Normalize audio peak

Adjust a short audio clip to a consistent peak level and export WAV locally.

Audio is decoded and processed in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use this tool

Choose a short audio file and normalize its peak to −1 dBFS, then save the result as 16-bit PCM WAV.

Private processing

Your input is processed in this browser tab. PixelKit does not upload it to a file-processing server; leaving the page clears the current work.

Formats and limits

This adjusts peak amplitude only; it does not provide broadcast loudness normalization or compression. Files are limited by the browser decode and memory limits; quiet sections remain quiet.

Frequently asked questions

Does peak normalization make quiet audio louder?

It scales the entire clip until its highest absolute sample reaches −1 dBFS. Quiet passages remain quiet relative to the rest of the clip.

Is this the same as loudness normalization?

No. It measures the sample peak and does not target LUFS, compress dynamics or apply limiting.

What format does it export?

It exports 16-bit PCM WAV using the decoded sample rate and channel layout; the source file stays in your browser tab.
