Local processing Video tools

Convert a short video to GIF

Convert up to 10 seconds of browser-decodable video into an animated GIF locally.

The video is decoded in this tab. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use this tool

Choose a video no longer than ten seconds and create an animated GIF from evenly sampled browser-decoded frames.

Private processing

Your input is processed in this browser tab. PixelKit does not upload it to a file-processing server; leaving the page clears the current work.

Formats and limits

Input is limited to 50 MB, 10 seconds and 16 megapixels. The output is capped at 320 px on either side and 40 frames; GIF uses a limited color palette and may look different from the source.

Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum video length for GIF conversion?

The tool accepts videos up to ten seconds and creates at most forty frames, with a maximum dimension of 320 pixels.

Will the GIF look identical to the original video?

No. GIF has a limited palette and the tool reduces size and frame rate, so colors and motion can differ.

Is a video encoder downloaded before processing?

A small JavaScript GIF encoder is loaded only when you create a GIF. Video decoding and encoding run locally in your tab.
